Cross Roads Primitive Methodist Chapel sited just a few yards further up the Keighley Road form the Bocking Wesleyan was built to larger proportions and was opened in 1884. At the beginning of August 1884 the Keighley News reported: "The opening sermon in connection with the new chapel recently erected for the members of the Primitive Methodist Connexion at Cross Roads was preached on Saturday last by the Rev. J. Ayrton, of Horbury. After the service there was a public tea provided, at which there was a large gathering considering the unfavourable state of the weather. After tea there was a public meeting held in the chapel, at which Mr. James Wright, of Whinns house (New Road Side), presided, and which was addressed by the Revs. J. Ayrton, W. Jackson, and J.T. Barkby – Sermons were preached on Sunday by the Rev. J. Ayrton, and for the next three Sundays there will be special sermons, when collections will be made in aid of the building fund." It was closed to worshippers sometime before the millenium. |
