Opening the Bible

The family bible is not a true family bible in two respects.

First of all it is an ordinary King James Bible bound in embossed boards. There are no ornate pre-printed pages for the completion of family details as was often the case with Victorian family bibles.

Secondly it appears to be inherited through the Sandham line. The fly-leaf reproduced here shows the entries for the Sandhams. Curiously there is a smaller detached fly-leaf from some other book with the same information in the same hand left loose within the bible. Later entries for the Hoggarths are written on the end papers. One or two I have written myself.
